To increase the visibility, reach, and impact of Geneseo’s research and scholarship by providing open access to information, ideas, and works of imagination.

High -quality, peer reviewed textbooks available in electronic and print forms, also with supporting works such as study guides and tests. Mostly books for large survey classes on the freshman level. Project supported by Rice University and several large foundations including the Gates Foundation and the Hewlett Foundation.

South Carolina Affordable Learning (SCALE), is an initiative of the Partnership Among South Carolina Academic Libraries that seeks to reduce the overall cost of higher education for students by promoting the use of quality low-cost and no-cost learning materials.

The Professor for Affordable Learning (PAL) award recognizes faculty who have already integrated affordable learning into their classrooms. These affordable course materials could include Open Educational Resources (high-quality teaching materials that are free for people everywhere to use and re-purpose), items freely available on the internet, or library resources.
