Nursing Resources: Reference Resources

Magill's Medical Guide has provided readers with the most authoritative yet accessible information about a variety of health and health-related topics. This new edition has five volumes and has up-to-date, easy-to-use medical information suitable for student research as well as use by general readers, including patients and caregivers.  A print copy is available in the library 's reference area.  

Infectious Diseases and Conditions provides comprehensive, non-specialist information on an array of topics. Essays discuss prevention, diagnosis, treatment as well as epidemiology, history and social concerns. In three volumes, 610 essays are arranged alphabetically, written by medical professionals, academics, and medical writers for a wide audience of nonspecialists and general readers. The essays identify, describe, and discuss pathogens and pathogenicity, the immune system, vaccines, diagnosis, prevention and treatment, drug resistance, epidemiology, history and organizations, research, and social context and concerns. A print copy is available in the library's reference area.   

Genetics is an updated and revised edition of Encyclopedia of Genetics and the most recent addition to the Salem Health series. It has been expanded to three volumes and is intended to provide information for a broad audience, including nonspecialists. The set features 455 signed entries arranged alphabetically.  The subjects covered include all aspects of genetics, such as diseases, biology, genetic engineering, social issues, and more. A print copy of this resource is available in the reference area of the library.
